Originated from an “Aviation Manpower Supply” contract with the South African Air Force: To support the South African Air Force (SAAF) skills retention challenge (the contracting parties were Government of South Africa and Atlas Aircraft Corporation, then part of Armscor). Atlas became part of the Denel Group with Denel’s establishment in 1992.

DPS (Pty) Ltd was established in 1994 to:

Redeploy Denel capacity i.e. excess employees into industry.
Appoint surplus Denel apprentices into local industry.
Accommodate changes in new Labour Legislation relating to skills supply and contracting between third parties.
Manage the Aviation Manpower Group skills contract for the SAAF (± 1300 SAAF deployed people).

DPS then expanded its service offerings to skills supply, HR consulting and services, outsourced services (i.e. security, cleaning, gardens, catering), recruitment centre and micro loans.

In 2003 Denel decided that DPS should restructure and refocus (outsourced non-core services ie Security, Cleaning, Microloans, HR Consulting), etc were exited. DPS then had a prime focus on Aviation skills supply to the South African Air Force.

DPS has now obtained approval to diversify it’s service offerings and market base to customers in the AVIATION, MILITARY and HIGH TECH INDUSTRY (local and international).
